1.0 Purpose 
 
 This procedure defines the process of preparing cleaning solutions for use in
 Manufacturing/Production and Warehouse areas. 
 
 2.0 Scope 
 
 This procedure applies to all chemicals used for cleaning and sanitizing in the
 Production/Manufacturing and Warehouse areas of the facility. 
 
 3.0 Responsibility 
 
 3.1 It is the responsibility of all production and facility personnel assigned to cleaning parts
 
 and equipment to follow this procedure and to fill out associated log books.
 
 3.2 ‘It is the responsibility of Facility Manager or designee to implement this procedure and
 to ensure that the procedure is being followed. 
 
 4.0 Definitions 
 
 4.1 Approved Chemical and Lube List — a list that has been approved by Quality
 
 Management containing current approved cleaning and sanitizing chemicals established
 for cleaning the facility 
 
 4.2 Aleonox — pH Neutral cleaning chemical used for product contact surfaces. Distributed
 as a white powder. 
 
 4.3. Citranox — acid pH cleaning chemical used for product contact surfaces. Distributed as
 
 a Clear/yellow liquid. 
 
 4.4 Germicidal Bleach — a cleaner used on drains, ceilings, walls, and floors and other
 non-product contact surfaces. 
 
 4.5 Damp Mop Floor Cleaner — a cleaner used on floors ONLY in the floor cleaning
 machine or mop bucket.

 4.6 Inspector’s Choice — chemical used to clean product contact surfaces.
 
 4.7 Crystal Simple Green — heavy duty degreaser for non-product and product contact
 surfaces. 
 
 4.8 Simple Green D ProS5 — hard non-porous disinfectant and sanitizer for non-product and
 product contact surfaces. 
 
 4.9 Breeze — a pH neutral, surfactant concentrate detergent for cleaning buckets, drums and
 
 general-purpose cleaning. 
 
 4.10 Enzyfoam — An enzymatic foaming detergent used for cleaning drains, walls, other vertical
 surfaces and difficult-to-access areas. 
 
 4.11 IPA — 70% isopropyl alcohol used for general sanitization 
 
 4.12 UOM - unit of measure 
 
 4.13 Non-Product Contact — equipment or parts that do not contact product
 
 4.14 Product Contact — equipment or parts that contact product 
 
 4.15 PPE — Personal Protection Equipment

 6.0 | Approved Chemical and Lube List 
 
 6.1 Chemicals purchased for production cleaning, office cleaning, or chemicals used for
 maintenance of production equipment must be on the Approved Chemical and Lube
 
 List. 
 
 6.1.1 All purchase requests for newly added chemicals used in Production or
 Maintenance need to be approved by Quality Management. 
 
 6.2 To have a chemical placed on the Approved Chemical and Lube List for use at the
 facility: 
 
 6.2.1 Submit a request to Facility, Safety, and Quality management with the product
 
 name and intended use in writing (email is acceptable). 
 
 6.2.2 Facility, Safety and Quality management will approve the chemical based on
 information from the chemical label and intended use, SDS sheet, and any other
 information provided or obtained by the manufacturer. All parties must approve.
 
 6.2.3 If approved, the chemical will be added to the Approved Chemical and Lube
 List which contains information about intended use and allowed scope of use.
 
 6.2.4 The Approved Chemical and Lube List is signed off by the QA Manager and
 Facility Manager. 
 
 7.0 Procedure for Mixing Chemicals 
 
 7.1 General Procedures 
 
 7.1.1. SDS books for all cleaning chemicals are located outside of production. SDS
 
 books are maintained by Safety Department. 
 
 7.1.2 Always follow manufacturer’s label instructions for handling, storage, and
 mixing of chemicals. 
 
 7.1.3 Always wear designated PPE when handling or using chemicals.
 
 7.1.4 Unless otherwise stated, it is recommended to always fill the container with
 water before adding the chemical when making a water soluble solution.

 7.1.5 Use designated Cleaning Solution Mixing Log to record the date, initials,
 
 chemical lot #, general purpose, room #, amount of chemical and amount of
 water. 
 
 7.1.6 Label all secondary containers with a Hazardous Material Identification System
 (HMIS) label, name of the chemical, and general purpose. 
 
 7.2 Recommend Mixing Ratios 
 
 7.2.1 Do not use concentrated chemicals on equipment unless recommended by the
 
 manufacturer. This will reduce the risks of personal injury or damage to
 equipment surfaces. 
 
 7.2.2 Mixing Chart — refer to Attachment 1. 
 
 7.2.3 IPA is already diluted from the manufacturer to achieve a 70% alcohol solution.
 Do not dilute with water or other chemicals.
